The building work has been ongoing for nearly two months now, and the contractor - JP Redman - is doing splendid work.
The gallery and the stage have long come down, and the old toilets have been pulled out. The new roof is also being put on.
Please take a look at the pictures to see the latest developments.
A small note however on the new roof. When applying for work to be carried out on the building - which is within the National Park - it is a rule set down by the park that we must use local slate on the roof. As a consequence we have bought our slate from the Cwrt y Bugail quarry in Ffestiniog. I agree with the principal of supporting local companies and the local economy. But it does raise a few eyebrows when we read in the papers that the new caffe on the top of Snowdon will be using stone and slate from Portugal!
It seems as if there is one rule for one and another rule for the other. But I hasten to add that here at Ty Siamas we are proud to be able to support local workers in Meirionnydd as they develop Ty Siamas!
